Nothing Ventured is the twenty-seventh episode in Season 1 of Clarence.
Synopsis
Clarence and Sumo try to gather money to invest in Chad and Sumo’s father’s business venture: a boutique sculpture shop.
Plot
The episode begins with Clarence and Sumo playing catch bottle caps and Chad and Mel were the ones who threw them. Mel was talking about the times he spent a lot of money and Chad told him that he had a job, he told him about his drink "Sour Cream Onion from Chad", then Mel came up with the idea that they could rent a business, Then they told Clarence and Sumo to look for money for their business and they went looking for money. At Clarence's house, in his room, Sumo and him were looking for ideas to raise money, Clarence shows Sumo the plans, the "plan A", which was to get money, the "plan B" was to make another plan, in case If "plan A" fails, and "plan C" is to surrender, Sumo suggests selling the laser pointer that Clarence used, which was Jeff's, then they go to Jeff's house, they ask him if he wants to buy the laser pointer, Jeff asks them how they got the laser pointer and they run off throwing the pointer. Chad and Mel gathered ideas, the latter suggests a burned-out door, Chad questions him about the door and Mel gets angry with himself, so Chad pretends that he liked his idea; Clarence and Sumo go back to see Jeff to ask for money, he is disinterested, so they give up. At Clarence's house, he is trying to sleep while thinking that maybe he is not an entrepreneur, suddenly he comes up with an idea and goes to Sumo's house, Clarence wakes him up, they both go on a cricket hunt but they get lost. In the garage of Clarence's house, Mel chose "the dump" as the name of the future store he and Chad, the latter tells him that people could confuse his store with the garbage dump, then Mel becomes angry again with himself and Chad tries to cheer him up, Mel sees that in the garage there is a guitar and the two think about practicing. Clarence and Sumo think about where to find crickets and they go into Marianio's restaurant, there it is full of cockroaches, but they confuse them with crickets and pick up a few. Meanwhile, Mel and Chad start practicing, but Mel, unable to get the rhythm he wanted, breaks his bass and leaves Clarence's house. At night, Clarence and Sumo go out to the street to deliver the cockroaches to the whole neighborhood while the people sleep, they think they will be paid because everyone likes surprises, the next morning, on television there is new about an invasion of cockroaches in Aberdale, then Mel and Chad decide to fumigate houses. When Clarence and Sumo generate a disaster in a house by blowing a tube with air, so Mel gives all the money earned to Chad and leaves in his truck, there the episode ends.

Trivia
- It was incorrectly labeled as the 27th episode to air.
- At the part that Sumo is sleeping there are only 4 of his brothers and him, while his family have 12 children including sumo. This is because it is revealed that the brothers go to different beds.
